Commissioning an Original Painting
Every animal has a story. A loyal companion, a barn favorite, a heart horse, or a beloved pet who has been part of your life in unforgettable ways. My goal is to capture that bond, to convey the look in their eyes, show their personality, and create a connection between the artwork and the viewer.
Each piece is painted by hand with oil paint, giving the artwork depth, richness, and lasting archival quality. Commissions begin at $590 for a single animal, with pricing adjusted by size and complexity. Additional pricing details may be found here.
I’d love to discuss your vision and bring your portrait to life. Please reach out to start the conversation.

The Commission Process
Step 1: Initial Meeting
We'll have a discussion (by phone, Zoom, or in-person) to go over your vision for the painting. Not only will we discuss the painting size, timelines, and pricing, but I also love to learn about the subjects I paint! In a way, it helps me to infuse their energy and capture their character in the painting. If you already have a favorite photo of the animal (or a few) you may email them before we talk.
Step 2: Reference Photos
Please email me 1-5 of your favorite photos (if you still have to take photos, you'll find my guide for photos here). We will agree on the best image for the painting, as well as background colors and style. If your photo was professionally taken, please provide the contact information of the photographer so I can obtain proper licensing / permission.
Step 3: Signed Agreement
Once we've discussed all of the details, I’ll put the information, pricing, and timing together in a document for us both to sign through easy digital signatures. Then I start painting!
Step 4: The Reveal
Your painting is ready! I'll often send a digital image based on our discussion and agreement, but the final reveal or "unboxing" of your custom artwork is the most exciting step.
